Hey all! I just wanted to write a quick post to let anyone who reads this know that things will be changing soon.

If you didn't know, this site is served through the Ghost CMS. It's been really cool seeing Ghost grow and expand over the years, but I don't know if this style of website is the right fit for me anymore. I recently started a Bear Blog and it made me realise there was a disconnect between the content I wanted to create and how I wanted to present myself online. I wrote a long-ish post about it on Bear Blog (which you can read here); in short, Ghost is cool, but it's really too much for what I want and need in a website.

For the last few months, I've been getting back into web design. It started with wanting to make a Ghost theme from scratch for the website. I used to design and tinker with websites when I was a teenager. Working on the Ghost theme awakened that creative spark in me again and it dawned on me that what I actually wanted was to make my whole website from scratch! It might take a lot of work, but there really is something magical about fiddling with CSS and HTML in a code editor and seeing something change in the browser. Well, it's magical to me anyway!

What's going to happen? I plan on moving to a static website, coded and designed completely by myself. There will be a focus on content, both writing and otherwise, with articles and information on the projects I am currently working on. I hope to finish building everything in the next week and the domain will direct to the new site when I'm finished. I plan to build a specific writing site to point melissayank.com to in the future and have a different domain be the main hub for all of my work and other nonsense.

The blog portion of the site will transition to a more informal format hosted on my Bear Blog: halinu.bearblog.dev. You can read posts directly on the blog or subscribe via RSS and Atom feeds.

Thank you to everyone who has been reading and following me while I've been on this journey! I hope you continue to enjoy my writing on the new site and read my rambling posts on the new blog! Thanks and take care. <3
